Asahi TAKUMAR - EF adapted

The Takumar series of lenses has an excellent reputation which approaches a cult-like following among some users. They assert these are the best series of photographic lenses ever produced. Dedicated fanatics are convinced these lenses equal or surpass Zeiss lenses in every category except perhaps marketing prowess and mystique.

Their performance especially with black and white film is extraordinary; photographs have a crisp, soulful, artistic quality usually attributed to the much more expensive West German-made Leitz and Zeiss lenses. At the time, Japanese industry had a pride-driven, some would say fanatical dedication to producing the absolute best quality in the world.

Asahi Takumar 28mm Super Multi Coated

Iis a compact lens, small in both diameter and thicknes. Build quality is superb. All-metal, solid and sturdy. You can feel the mass when you lift it. There's something of substance in there that you can sense when you examine it with your hands. The weight relative to its size is part of the appeal of these vintage lenses.  The focus ring is smooth. Photos

Asahi Takumar 100mm Super Multi Coated MACRO

Is an excellent macro lens. Mechanically and optically the lens does not leave to be desired for anything more - the lens is ergonomic, easy to use and very sharp, at any given aperture. The background blur is soft and smooth even taking into account that this is not a fast lens. There are no visible optical aberrations. The maximum magnification ratio of 1:2 is the same as that of most of modern macro lenses with similar focal lengths of 90 mm.Photos
